Don't Go Chasin' Sacrifices? | The Book Of Psalms Week 5 | Anywhere Service
The Book of Psalms
Discussion questions to help you unpack the message with others.
- What was the best thing that happened to you this past week? What are you hopeful for in the week to come?
- What stood out to you most from the message?
- Why do you think we value sacrifice so highly?
- What might God want FOR you as you sacrifice resources like your time, money, etc.?
- Why is gratitude so important to our emotions and perspective?
- What’s an area of your life where you’d like a perspective shift? How might sacrifice or gratitude be part of that shift?
- What is one way you can lean into gratitude this week?
Prayer
Let’s end with prayer. You can say something like, “Jesus, thank you for wanting a relationship with us. Thank you for providing for us and loving us. Help us remember to see that, to see YOU, everyday. You deserve our gratitude. Thank you for calling us to something better. Amen.”
Bonus Questions
Check these out if you’re on a roll and want to go a little deeper.
- Read Psalm 50:16-17. In what ways have you sacrificed for the sake of sacrificing, with no intention or heart behind it?
- Read Psalm 50:23. How could gratitude be sacrifice (sacrificing your tendency to only see what’s missing)? How might this shift in attitude change your perspective on circumstances in your life?

What did the 90’s R & B group TLC and the writer of Psalm 150 both know about the futility of chasing waterfalls? Join Hannah as she explores how the sacrifice of gratitude stops us from chasing things but instead causes us to reflect, come to a new realization and rely on God.
