Am I Supposed to Quit My Job?
Raw
Discussion questions to help you unpack the message with others.
- What’s one of the craziest jobs you’ve worked?
- What stood out to you most from the message?
- What’s one way you’ve struggled at your job? How might that affect your perspective of work?
- Which view do you tend to have about work: one that’s about survival, consumption, or identity? Why?
- We reflect God when we work and create here on earth. Where could you bring some order, beauty, and benefit your work in some way?
- Read Genesis 2:15 and Ephesians 2:10. When have you experienced excitement and fulfillment with your work?
- Jesus came to redeem our work. Read Colossians 3:23 and 1 Corinthians 10:31. How could you include God in what you do?
- Where do you need help with how you view and value work: bringing order, beauty, or benefit? What’s one step you can take this week to co-labor with God in that area?
Prayer
Let’s end our time praying together. You can say something like, “God, thank you for sending Jesus to redeem our work. You know the successes and struggles with our work, please continue to give us wisdom as we navigate those things. Help us to include you in all that we do, as we reflect you. In the identity and character of Jesus we pray, amen.”
Bonus Questions
- Take a moment to tell God where you’re struggling with work. Afterward, ask him this question, “God, where do you want the gospel to be where I am?”
- Read Revelation 14:13. What’s your reaction to the fact that the work we do follows us into eternity?
That's it for this week - see you next time!
New around here? We'd love to connect
Work. With each generation, the approach to work has changed. Is it supposed to be fulfilling? Or is it supposed to be hard? Should I love my job? Or should I grit my teeth until the weekend finally gets here? Is work a blessing or a curse? This weekend, we’re rolling up our sleeves and talking about nine-to-fives (or whatever shift you’re working).
