Discussion questions to help you unpack the message with others.
- What is a fashion trend you remember as a kid? Did you ever embrace the style?
- What stood out to you most from the message?
- Think about a time you realized something was actually fake. How did it make you feel?
- What is a box or a caricature that you think people try to put you in?
- When you hear the word “holy”, what is the first thing you think about?
- Which do you identify with the most from the “fake grace” checklist: the white-washed tombs or the power-washing? Why?
- Read Matthew 11:28-30 (in the Message version if you can). How is Jesus’ rhythm of grace different from the rhythms of the world?
- Where can you take a step towards believing and trusting in the real grace Jesus has for you?
Prayer
Let’s end our time praying together. You can say something like;
“God, thank you for giving us real grace that is loving, patient, and relational. Help us to understand more of this real grace and to be able to identify when fake grace arises in our lives. Amen.”
